MURPHY ASSOCIATES independent planning consultancy, specialising in Urban Design and Conservation/Heritage. Established in 2000, our firm has built a strong reputation over 25 years, providing expert advice, strategic insight, and proactive support to clients across both the public and private sectors.

We transitioned to full consultancy in 2005 and became an incorporated business in 2009, reflecting our growth and ongoing commitment to positive plan-led development.

Our portfolio spans a diverse range of projects, varying in scale, nature, and complexity. From preparing planning applications and appeals, to serving as Expert Witness, we bring a depth of experience to every project.

Our Director brings over 34 years of experience in planning and development, gained through roles in local authorities as well as the private sector. This breadth of knowledge enables us to offer informed, realistic assessments, and innovative strategies tailored to each client’s unique requirements.

The consultancy prepares planning applications, listed building applications, relevant supporting statements and appeals for a broad range of projects from new development to conversions, redevelopment, extensions, mixed use schemes and major residential developments in rural, urban and coastal settings..

We work closely with clients to identify the most effective pathway to achieving their goals, providing clear practical, advice at every stage. We are also well-equipped to draw in other specialists and expertise to form multi-disciplinary teams relevant to the specifics of each project.

We actively seek to maintain a consistent approach to our work. This includes respecting the natural and historic environment, embracing sustainability and low/renewable energy, working with clients to provide realistic, balanced, imaginative, contemporary and innovative development solutions.
